We tried Dental Milling a new flexible EVA plastic today. This plastic was designed for mouthguards and bite splints and orthodontic Appliances.

The material machines very nicely and makes small chips without melting. We were able to produce a very good finish using a standard PMMA

strategy. We recommend the use of a water based coolant for this. Because we have milled PMMA on many machines, we think that this is an easier material to handle

Our adhesive testing showed that adhesion to PMMA is poor. This makes it a poor substrate so it’s best used as splint or orthodontic device.
